There’s something about getting married outdoors that feels different\u2014especially when it’s just a few people, tucked into the woods of the Hudson Valley for a micro wedding or elopement. Light slanting through the trees, the quiet, the way time seems to slow down out there. It’s hard to put into words, but you feel it the moment you arrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
KC and Ashley’s day had that same feeling. No rigid timeline, no fuss over centerpieces\u2014just the two of them, fully present and soaking it all in. The kind of day where you can actually take a breath and realize you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
A DAY THAT UNFOLDED WITH THE SUN<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
When I arrived, KC and Ashley were already settled in, surrounded by their closest people. The light was soft through the trees and nobody was in a rush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony was simple\u2014no microphones, just their voices and birdsong in the background. That’s one of the best parts of an elopement or micro wedding: it’s just for the people in the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FROM GOLDEN HOUR TO TWILIGHT<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
As the afternoon went on, friends gathered in small groups, drinks in hand, talking and laughing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once it got dark, the string lights came on and everyone settled in\u2014dinner ran long, conversations wandered, nobody was checking the clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KC and Ashley spent the night the same way they spent the ceremony: present, unposed, just enjoying their people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
A HUDSON VALLEY MICRO WEDDING THAT FELT LIKE THEM<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
This wedding wasn’t built around a generic Pinterest board saved by 10,000 other brides\u2014it was built around what KC and Ashley actually wanted<\/em>, which is what made it feel completely their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More couples are choosing this kind of day over the 200-person, year-of-planning version, and it’s not really about cutting corners. It’s about cutting out the parts that were never about them in the first place\u2014fewer obligations, fewer decisions made for other people, fewer hours spent on things nobody remembers by the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s part of why these photos work the way they do. No overly posed group shots or rushed timelines pushing everyone through a checklist. Just two people who clearly wanted to be exactly where they were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KC and Ashley, thank you for letting me be part of it. It was a good reminder that the best weddings are usually the simplest ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
