There’s something about getting married outdoors that feels different—especially when it’s just a few people, tucked into the woods of the Hudson Valley for a micro wedding or elopement. Light slanting through the trees, the quiet, the way time seems to slow down out there. It’s hard to put into words, but you feel it the moment you arrive.

KC and Ashley’s day had that same feeling. No rigid timeline, no fuss over centerpieces—just the two of them, fully present and soaking it all in. The kind of day where you can actually take a breath and realize you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

A DAY THAT UNFOLDED WITH THE SUN

When I arrived, KC and Ashley were already settled in, surrounded by their closest people. The light was soft through the trees and nobody was in a rush.

As the afternoon went on, friends gathered in small groups, drinks in hand, talking and laughing.

Once it got dark, the string lights came on and everyone settled in—dinner ran long, conversations wandered, nobody was checking the clock.

KC and Ashley spent the night the same way they spent the ceremony: present, unposed, just enjoying their people.

It’s about cutting out the parts that were never about them in the first place—fewer obligations, fewer decisions made for other people, fewer hours spent on things nobody remembers by the next morning.
